Will my phone work in Mauritius?
It needs two things: eSIM support and a carrier-unlocked phone.
Supports eSIM
Most iPhones from the XS on, and flagship Android phones from 2020, support eSIM.
Carrier-unlocked
A phone locked to your home network won’t take another eSIM. Ask your provider if you are not sure.
Check on iPhone
Settings → General → About. If an EID is listed, the phone supports eSIM.
Your QR code appears in Your eSIMs straight after payment, and it installs on one phone. Scan it on the phone you will use.
Calls and texts
Every plan here is data only. WhatsApp, FaceTime and iMessage work over the data. The eSIM has no phone number of its own, so it cannot register a new WhatsApp account.
